| Introduction | Ashwini Malik is an India-based independent filmmaker, screenwriter, screenwriting teacher and script consultant. Born in 1969, Ashwini obtained a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Delhi University and then went to India’s premier film school, Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) to study Film Direction. His graduation film, The Waiter in Slow Motion, was in official competition at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 1995. Ashwini began his career in television and went on to write, direct and produce a number of fiction and non-fiction shows. In 2002, he directed his first feature film, Clever & Lonely. Since 2004, Ashwini has also been involved in teaching Screenwriting. He has taught at his alma mater FTII, at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai, and currently teaches at Shiv Nadar University, near Delhi. He also mentors regularly at screenwriting workshops in India and abroad. |
