| Introduction | I am a landscape painter working in oils and living in Northern California, in Eureka, on beautiful Humboldt Bay. I began serious study of art in college in the mid 60's. However, my focus on "Commercial Art" brought disenchantment with the whole field of art and I put pencil and brush away,and directed my efforts toward other studies, family, and work in the Natural Food business. In the late 80's, however, I once again returned to art. And I've been working at painting full time since 1994. With this midlife career change, painting has become my passion, my job, my hobby, my recreation. I work both on location (en plein air) and paint larger format paintings in my studio, located in the old town area of my city. I have received regional and national recognition for my work, and my paintings can be seen in the Elliott Fouts Gallery, Sacramento,CA, my studio and on line at kathyoleary.com. |
