| Introduction | My interest in autism started waaaaay before I found out about my being on the autism spectrum. I think that my internal need to belong drew me to autism to begin with and the inexplicable serenity I felt amongst those on the autism spectrum is what kept me going. I want to raise awareness on the challenges of the girls/women on the autism spectrum, just as many amazing women I've met online want and are currently trying to. I am also deeply interested in the discoursive issues around autism and I deeply hope that a terminology is finally found that doesn't create this much controversy and manages to cover everyone's beliefs (autistic adults, parent's of children with autism, NT or not, all ends of the autism spectrum etc) and yes, I do believe it's possible becase I can see our internal similarities. But above all, I wish to encourage people to be a little bit more understanding. No matter what their personal situation is. |
