Introduction | I teach at Saint Michael's College, and live in Burlington, Vermont. Except on the occasional extreme winter day in February or worse, March, when I have an unusual pile-up of things to be graded, I think these two facts make me an extraordinarily fortunate person. I also think I'm lucky because I'm left handed. And I was born on an island in the south Pacific (Guam) and have been to 49 of the 50 states (all but Alaska) and 25 countries, which I think is kind of neat. During the 2011-12 school year I was writing from the University of Jordan where I taught in the American Studies Program as a visiting Fulbrighter, and had the opportunty to explore Jordan and other parts of the Middle East. Now that I'm back in Vermont, I've used the blog to keep track of some other projects, most recently, the path to using my last year before 50 to shore up some big goals. |
Interests | politics and political activism, global health and development, international travel (really, any kind of travel), hiking, ice skating, Africa (especially Zanzibar, the most fabulous place on earth), meeting people who have been to places I haven't been or know how to do stuff I don't. A major non-interest is board games, at which I am terrible. |
