| Introduction | Phagyab Rinpoche is a monk-scholar, healer and renowned practitioner in the Gelugpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in Kham, Tibet, in 1966 and ordained at the age of thirteen, Rinpoche received a traditional education in Buddhist philosophy and ritual in Tibet and at Sera Monastery in South India. While studying for his Geshe degree, he was recognized by the Dalai Lama to be the reincarnation of a Phagyab Rinpoche and requested to return to Tibet in order to assume leadership of the Ashi and Lithang monasteries. While in Tibet Rinpoche was arrested for teaching Buddhism and subsequently fled back to India before emigrating to the USA in 2004. A survivor of torture, he regularly calls for forgiveness and kindness to those who perpetrate violence on others. When he was afflicted by serious and life-threatening illnesses incurred during his escape from Tibet, Rinpoche healed himself through extensive meditation practice, astonishing and inspiring doctors, friends and audiences across the US. Rinpoche teaches Buddhist methods of mind-management, stress reduction and conflict resolution at Buddhist retreat centers and ecumenical healing facilities across the US. |
