Introduction	A group of men loosely based around The Aldersbrook Estate (nr Wanstead) who meet most Thursdays for a beer or two. One day in 1998 a plot was hatched to have a weekend away in Cumbria. Armed with a car full of supplies and a coffee table book showing walks in the area, we headed off with minimal gear, scant experience and risible fitness (but lots of beer!). On our first night we decided to have a stroll up to see Sca Fell the following day. After a gruelling, cold, wet eight hours wandering around (mostly lost) in the mountains, we arrived back in the cosy pub having "bagged" our first peak. We were hooked!
