| Introduction | After a career as a church musician that made it hard to get away for any amount of time, retirement in 2023 meant the possibility of a longer, and guilt-free trip – and I took five weeks to visit family in Ireland and England, as well as walks on the Borders and the Yorkshire Dales, and then a wonderful trip down the Norwegian coast before enjoying a few days in Amsterdam. Because I don’t like to inflict all my friends with holiday pictures, I chose to blog the trip, leaving folks with the option to click on the link or not, as they chose.
