Introduction Despite the fact that the clinical and social understanding of cannabis has dramatically improved over the last decade or so, the fact still remains that most employers are not fond of their employees regularly using marijuana, especially while on the job. However, this became a bit more muddier once the pandemic hit and everyone started working from home. For those employees that have medical marijuana cards, it became much easier to casually smoke some weed while working and not have to say a thing to their boss. However, even if one never smokes on the job or even appears to be impaired while working, some employers do not want to hire people that use medical marijuana. I have heard that many of my friends do not even apply for positions that they are well qualified for, simply because the company does random drug testing that could cost them their job. What are the ethical concerns with medical marijuana cards and employees being fired for using cannabis? After all, is it not their right to use doctor approved and prescribed methods of treatment to manage their symptoms of pain and other chronic diseases?
