Occupation | Lake District Inn |
Location | Holmrook, Cumbria, United Kingdom |
Introduction | I am a hostelry with over 400 years history. I was originally a Yeoman’s farm, developing into a coaching inn/posting house by the middle of the 19th century. I became a luxury Lake District Hotel in the early 20th century. The large increase of rambling in the latter part of the 20th century turned me into a walker’s pub. With the decline in numbers of walkers and the increase of other available pubs has resulted in my owners now working to return to the more refined style of the early 20th century. I am getting old and all these changes over my life have had a wearing effect on my fabric, but it’s nice to see a return to a quieter, more serine life that seems to suit me better. |
