| Introduction | Sanjeeva Pandey is Chief Conservator of Forests (Faunal Diversity and Protected Areas) in the Wildlife Wing of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department. Till very recent, he has been Director of the Great Himalayan National Park (1998-2006), a prime hotspot of biological diversity in the western Himalayas, India where he engaged himself in biodiversity conservation through livelihood based natural resource management. Originally trained in wildlife management at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun and in forestry management at the Indian Forest College, Dehradun; Sanjeeva also studied social sciences (History) at the Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. In 2005, he joined International Volunteer Leadership Program (IVLP) of US government. |
| Interests | In addition to my professional interests and activities, I am an avid trekker, naturalist and bird-watcher and have published extensively. I am also committed to a regime of personal enhancement and growth through meditation and related practices. This gives me ability to work closely with colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds. Also it strengthens my interpersonal relations, and provides me with leadership and managerial skills. |
