| Introduction | my name is ryan costello. i'm currently the lead singer in a band called the OaKs, as well as a social worker and a best husband. i love music, especially music recorded between 1958 and 1978 and pressed onto vinyl. this blog is where i will share my discoveries and my favorite tracks. i took a backpacking trip across europe in 2000 with two of my close friends in college. in france, i picked up two albums - a set of collected ragas by Ravi Shankar and a two LP set of traditional Incan music. i don't know what compelled me to pick up and buy these two records - i had never owned records before, but i carried them around in my backpack for the next two months of the trip. when i got back to america i found an old record player in a pawn shop, a couple of speakers, and sat down to become enthralled with an incredible indian flautist on one of the Ravi Shankar LPs. since then, i've slowly deepened in my love affair with vinyl. you can contact me at ryancost@gmail.com. |
