| Introduction | About the Artist: Born in British Columbia, Canada and currently living in Ontario. I have been painting for the last 15 years, but I reached a turning point in my painting style when I was instructed to create my first abstract 6 years ago. My body of work can be best summed up as a paroxysm - which is defined as a sudden outburst of emotion or action. My paintings are about raw spontaneity and movement tempered with harmony. The rawness of the colours and their form are exploding onto the canvas. Each creation in itself is confined to the boundaries of the canvas but the viewer can sense the tension in the paintings that are craving to spill over. My work highlights the order underneath the turbidity of the emotion used to create it. My current body of work is composed of acrylic and oil on canvas. I use these tools to interpret and portray the movement and expansion of my subjects. I capture the fleeting moment in time, the place where order and chaos occur simultaneously. I am continually inspired by my surroundings; painting is the vehicle in which I can express my passion, my voice. It is how I see the world. |
