| Introduction | I am a writer. Writing sustains me, satisfies me. I need it as I need air, and sleep; if I haven’t had enough I will wake in the night to go get some. I am a lover. I have been married for 28 years and counting, still learning about love. Also in other manifestations; I am the mom of two teenagers; one in high school, one in college. The fierce and soaring mother-love that I found with my infants has taken on a patina from many small anguishes and piercing joys as I learn to let go, and watch them mature. Other loves are for everything big and wild enough to entirely overwhelm my sense of scale - oceans, mountains, wild rivers; music; poetry; “aha” moments. I am a Christian Scientist. This makes me a Christian as well, as my ecumenical friends know. It also makes me a thinker - not one to swallow doctrines or hold beliefs because I am told to. I am open to all manifestations of Spirit, and find that people of many faiths have experience of the same Spirit. I’m not interested in arguing about theory, just in coming together in truth. |
