| Introduction | Thanks for visiting my blog "Nana Picks the Books". For children around the world reading has always been a way to escape from their troubles and problems. In a good book kids can get lost in the adventures of wonderful characters and learn amazing things. I am a Nana to six Grandchildren and reading with them is one of my favorite activities. Not all the Grandchildren like to sit still and listen to the stories. So, reading out loud to them must be done with humor, passion and in a way that engages them into the story. I read books with funny voices, with over exaggeration and by asking the “what will happen next” question before continuing the story. Most of the time I can draw the child into the story but occasionally a book goes flat. The Grandchildren start to fidget, ask for the TV or want to move on to a different activity. Here are some of books that my Grandchildren have loved, been OK with and some that they have walked away from. |
