Introduction Children from across Africa gathered on the historical Robben Island for the annual Bush Radio Media Kidocracy Konference (MKK) 2007. Bush Radio, in partnership with UNICEF and the Robben Island Museum brought the youth together to talk about issues ranging from child trafficking and the rights of the child to environment issues and female circumcision. “This is an unique conference. Media is such a powerful thing and radio is a very powerful tool. Here kids can begin to see themselves as powerful people,” says South Africa’s Unicef representative Macharia Kamau. Besides Kamau, several special guests came to the island to speak at the opening of the MKK on Wednesday. One of the special guests to attend was Danny K, who also did an impromptu performance.
