Dan Scott had been assigned as Technique Construction Adviser to projects such as THIS OLD HOUSE SHOW, the Wickwire Home, Concord, Mass., “THE BIG HOUSE” on top of the Greenland Ice Glacier, and “THE ELEVATED DORM” at the South Pole. Drafter of many commercial projects for Architects and Builders,“The River Garden” Brattleboro,Vt, Windsor High School, Windsor, Vt. & The Brooks House after a fire destroyed much of the building, and Historic Restorations Projects for Restoration Builders and for the Windham Housing Trust, Brattleboro, Vt. & the Bellows Falls & Westminster Historical Society. |
| Interests | I went to Massachusetts College of Art to study Architectural Design. However when I meet some of the students working in that program and didn't care to study the kind of projects they were doing. After trying ceramics, I ended up in the sculpture department, and after gaining valuable hands on experience by working as a teaching assistant, I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sculpture in 1982. While I was working as a full time sculptor, I decided to take up drafting for local architects and engineers to supplement my earnings. At these firms I learned by doing what needed to be done. I found that I enjoyed the work I was doing and gained a sense of greater satisfaction from this work than I received from sculpting. In 1985 I got a job working with Winter Panel drafting residential homes for there stress skin panel industry. Winter Panel was started by builders who wanted a better way to insulate a timber frame homes, while creating better insulation panels they soon discovered that they could use the same product to build homes without using timber frames at all. These same builders taught me how to create architectural plans to build these homes. As always my architectural Design and Drafting knowledge came from builders rather then from conventional schooling. After leaving Winter Panel I went on to work in several architect's offices, learning Design and Drafting from them whenever I could. I increasingly enjoyed finding new ways to express architectural design in my drafting skills and I started to provide my own architectural Drafting and Design services for architects, builders, and private home owners. Today I enjoy working with everyone to Draft and Design beautiful family homes that can be enjoyed for years to come. |
