| Introduction | Jean Osanz was born in France. Back in 1979 he wintered in Antarctica as the Atmosphere and Space Physics (ASP) team leader at Dumont d’Urville. He met his wife Pascale there, she was then a radio announcer for the ABC. Jean moved to Melbourne in 1980 to be with Pascale. He worked for many years as service manager for GBC Scientific Instruments. GBC exports to 65 countries and Jean visited 45 of them. In 2000 Jean got nostalgic about Antarctica, so he had his (probably…) last stint down South. He wintered again on the Australian station of Macquarie Island as ASP Engineer. Since then he has worked as an engineering consultant, then as a technical translator. He is now retired. |
