| Introduction | My name is Marlene and I am blogging as part of my class this semester. This will be my 1st Teaching practicum in my MSN- Nursing Education. I am married and have two great kids, Aaron (boy-14) and Amelia (girl-13), as well as four dogs. We live in Aubrey, Tx. This is my 19th year as an RN. Areas where I have worked include ER, Nsy, Pedi, Clinic, Healthy Start Nurse (state of Fla, following up on at risk mothers and babies as well as mandatory at home visits/follow up with crack, drug addicted babies), airlines nurse, school nurse, lvn clinical instructor, urology clinic mgr. Currently, I am sub. school nurse for Denton, Tx, & a volunteer school nurse for my children's school. My hobbies are reading and traveling to far off places. My nursing interests are Cultural and Community Health Nursing as well as how disasters and catastrophies affect nursing care and the nurses that provide the care. My goal is to teach beginning nursing students as well as teach in another country--maybe a satellite school in a developing country. I look forward to working with all of you. Marlene |
