| Introduction | When my junior school teacher caught me staring off into space or out of the window, she would call me Dolly Daydream,or say I was "Off with the fairies." At the time, it was enough to embarrass me into paying attention to what was going on in class, at least for a little while. She was right, of course: I usually was off with the fairies, or to wherever my imagination decided it wanted to go. I haven't changed. |
