| Introduction | I’ve been thinking lately. A lot. A fraction of the things I “write” in my head end up captured. This is my attempt to capture more. This blog tells stories. These stories describe one woman’s attempt to love creatively, recognizing that people (and particularly in my life, a husband and three children) do not take a “one size fits all” sort of love. Strategies matter. Personalities matter. And there is a lot of learning to do. I often wish an “owner’s manual” came with babies, husbands, even myself. You know, the kind that explains personalities, inclination, needs, what gets us moving, what brings meaning to each life. Yet if it did, I wouldn’t feel so pressed to study my family, to learn how to tailor my love to fit each member while keeping in mind: Love is patient, kind, rejoicing in truth, protective, trusting, hopeful, and persevering. Love is not envious, boastful, proud, rude, self-seeking, easily angered, record-keeping, delightful of evil. 1 Cor. 13: 4-7 (paraphrased) It is my desire to reflect, learn, and share my experience as an example of how tailoring love to the most important people in my life helps me understand them, myself, and God a little more. |
