| Introduction | Just over 16 years ago, I obtained my German Shepherds & began the sport of Schutzhund. Over the years, I worked "both sides" of the leash. I bred, titled, handled & showed my own dogs in local, Regional, National & Intl. events in 3 countries outside the US. I also showed in AKC conformation & obedience. However, the GSD's took a toll on my body so I started searching for a small breed that I could show in AKC events. After moving to the UK, my friend & I visited Crufts for the first time. By chance we discovered the Podengo Portuguese in the Discover dogs area. Neither of us wanted to take on a Rare breed because we knew most breeds took decades to become fully recognized however we were assured at the time that the breed would be fully recognized within a year. That was more than 4 years ago... Since moving back to the US, we're still waiting for advacement to AKC Misc. where I can start exhibiting my breed. In the meantime, my Champions have learned Obedience & Lure Coursing. |
