Introduction | I have many years experience as a university lecturer teaching social and political philosophy, and have provided consultancy services in teacher education and professional development. I am co-author of three books and many journal articles in the field of educational philosophy and democratic education, and have served on professional bodies and advisory committees promoting philosophy in education. My research and extensive experience has led to many invitations both in Australia and internationally. I have long held a personal and professional interest in the arts, especially the role of creative thinking as an educative process. Living and working close to the Ipswich CBD means being able to regularly enjoy the culture of the city and supporting the arts in Ipswich. I have collaborated with local artists on projects, including a Foreword in an art book. I am a committee member of the Ipswich Regional Arts Development Fund and the Ipswich Art Awards, a member of the Regional Arts Council (Ipswich) and the Friends of the Ipswich Art Gallery, and a regular guest speaker at art events in Ipswich and Brisbane. |
