| Introduction | Hello! My name is Emily and I am a senior Kinesiology major at George Mason University. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and recently achieved my Hardstyle Kettlebell Instructor Certification. I grew up dancing (mostly ballet and modern) so the gym has always been a foreign place to me. My major has pushed me out of my comfort zone to learn lifting techniques and the benefits of cross training. My recent internship at a kettlebell sport performance gym showed me how important strength training can be for any activity. I found a lot of my old injuries and chronic pain started to resolve from learning to lift with kettlebells. This has opened up a whole new perspective in terms of my future career goals as a physical therapist. I want to not only treat my patients but truly help them recover so they can return to their fitness goals. One very important component of that is nutrition. This blog will be exploring the nutrition needs and requirements for someone recovering from an injury. We still need to eat and maintain our bodies even when we aren't able to perform at our best. I am hoping to learn more about how to do that in a healthy and safe way! |
