| Introduction | We bought Kelaerin in 1991 and almost immediately set out cruising with our two daughters down the coast of the Pacific US to Mexico, Central America and through the Panama Canal to Florida. After that Kelaerin logged a few miles traveling back and forth across the US on a truck, but then we were able to sail her down to Puerto Rico for a season and back up to Florida. In 2002 we left again to cross the Atlantic, without the girls this time as they had done the unthinkable and grown up with lives of their own. Our original idea was to do a circumnavigation of the Atlantic, however, once we got going we couldn't seem to stop and since then have sailed in the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, down the Red Sea, across the Arabian Sea to the South China Sea. Soon we will be leaving this area to begin our west to east Pacific crossing. Our plan is to go to Palau, the So. Pacific Islands, to New Zealand and then up to Hawaii with an estimated return to Bellingham, WA and the end of our circumnavigation in 2014. That's the plan which is, as always, firmly entrenched in jello. |
