| Introduction | For the last six years, rescuing feral bees in the greater Los Angeles basin, teaching beekeeping, and selling honey. I have 28 colonies and several client hives. Wild bees are resilient, never requiring treatments for pests/disease and are a pleasure to work. Saving these wonderful survivor stock honey bees is my work and what I write about. The title of this blog "BACKwardsBeekeeping" refers to a historical view towards honey bees and keeping them that was grounded in gathering local swarms and colonies that were kept without the modern foundations and treatments of conventional beekeeping. My bees are allowed to draw their own wax combs and replace their queens when they choose to. I do not "buy" bees. |
