| Introduction | My grandmother, who is a fantastic seamstress, first sat me in front of a sewing machine when I was eight. The acid yellow cotton shirt she coached me through was a long way from the shimmering ball gown I'd secretly envisioned, so I wasn't enamored with the skills at the time. Having returned to sewing as an adult, I'm very grateful for her patience and perseverance and a much more willing student. |
