Introduction I should have been a pediatrician or vet, as I love and get along well with kids and dogs, and would have found such a career far more rewarding and less spiritually exhausting. In college, I planned to attend graduate school in foreign relations and national security issues at Johns Hopkins' SAIS, where I was offered a full ride, but my youthful political ambitions, fed by a desire to prevent more Vietnams and defeat Communism, drew me toward law school. The worst thing that ever happened to me was being admitted to all of the law schools to which I applied, as a virtual lark. Once admitted to Harvard and Stanford Law Schools, one feels obligated to attend. The sad truth is that you more likely than not will become a lawyer, part of a profession in which there tends to be an inverse relationship between success and devotion to the law and the truth. I absolutely love trying cases, but I hate the obstruction, dishonesty, and waste of "litigation", in which those with the greatest resources enjoy a vast advantage, and routinely subvert justice with impunity, because they control the judiciary.
