I prize the long staring contests with my rooster while my fork squishes my pillowed waffles I eat for brunch every morning. Sometimes we awkwardly stare, sometimes she stares because she's angry that I chose my honey-bear instead, but mostly we exchange stares of an inimitable relationship: the satisfaction of knowing the rooster will wake me and that I will always be there to sweeten things.
