| Introduction | I am part of a new Renaissance. Before the age of reason and after the dark ages there was a time when the saints of God were overflowing with creative, passionate expressions of worship. Art, Music, Theology, Culture, Architecture...nothing would go untouched by this creative explosion, derived from the Great Creator Himself. 500 or so years later, and we are still enjoying the benefits of a moment in history when God was King of hearts, minds, creative energies, and expressions. It didn’t take long, however, for fallen man to co-opt this movement and insert his self-centred tendencies. Since that time, humanity has been devoid of the creative genius that catalyzed it half a millennium ago. My prayer is that in me, somehow the collision of art, music, and thought would create in some the same stirrings that moved saints of old to look behind themselves at 1000 years of darkness, look forward, and become the agents of change that would move an entire culture away from chaos into His marvelous, ordering light. Welcome to the new Renaissance. Welcome to my missional confessional. |
