Introduction	I began my journey to the best coffee on the planet through an impromptu meeting with Rick Clemente, and his wife Debbie, one afternoon in October. I had spent many years in coffee shop management with Borders, Seattles Best, and an independent little Starbucks in the East Mountains of Albuquerque, NM. However, the promise of a higher salary and promotions all over the place led me to a more traditional retail management position. Boy was I wrong. There was no passion in big box retail for me. I especially missed being able to make a direct impact on quality as the product is being made! That fall afternoon we talked about creating a real partnership where real people care about fantastic coffee (actually the best coffee on the planet!).
