Lionesses have no manes. How do they know when they've grown up?
A lioness needs no mane, no plumage, no fur nor hair to tell her she is grown. The sound of her roar makes it apparent to all present that she is perfectly capable of handling herself. Should she ever doubt that she is anything less than capable, she need only make even the quietest of noises to remind herself of her own power and physical acuity.
