Introduction	Food is our playground. Where other men would be satisfied with an evening of good cigars, rare scotch, and a lap dance, we prefer a tasting menu, a bottle of rare Cabernet, and a handsome sommelier. It's all about pure indulgent pleasure for its own sake. Restaurants are our playground of choice. In French, the word for playground, "terrain de jeux," is easily turned into "terrine de jeux" to skew it closer to our idea of a place to play, as in a deep-dish of fun, a bowl game for epicureans, a ramekin of gleeful pleasure. And, as on any playground, if the opponent isn't worthy, the mitts will come off, but we promise to keep it amusing. Hear the kitchen bell? Playtime has begun. Let the games begin!
