Gender Female
Occupation Restaurateur
Location New Delhi, India
Introduction I had always wanted to start my own restaurant. And I finally did so, at the ripe old age of 32. Having noticed the absence of authentic Bengali and Anglo-Indian food in Delhi and seeing it relished by my guests at home, I put my money where my mouth is and started my own restaurant in Delhi. Brown Sahib was like an extension of my home in Calcutta - from the food which I grew up on in Calcutta to the decor of the restaurant and the hospitality extended to guests. My hope was that the restaurant would provide diners with a chance to experience the life I knew in Calcutta and they feel that they have entered an elegant, hospitable, traditional Bengali home which celebrates food and the finer things in life. I have recently shut the restaurant and opened a catering outfit called Food for Thought -- so that I can concentrate on what I love most - cooking and creating menus for customers. The blog is my way of sharing the trials and tribulations of running the restaurant as well as my love for food with others.
