| Introduction | My name is Laz which is short for Lazaro and seems to be a mouthfull for almost everyone I've met, so it’s just Laz. I’m originally from Habana, Cuba and have lived in the US for most of my life, spending the majority of it in the Sunshine State, Florida. I lived in Miami from the age of 6 until the age of 34, after which we moved to the Tampa Bay area. I lost my eyesight during 1995-1996 due to diabetic retinopathy. I work from home and have been looking for something else to supplement my income. As any blind person has, I've run into accessibility issues and now have the urge to help ease the burden/stress that this generates in the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals. |
| Interests | Computers, sound editing, science fiction and adventure stories (audiobooks, dramatizations, and movies), and people. |
| Favorite movies | Too many to write down, but I generally like most sci-fi/adventure movies and also comedies. |
| Favorite music | Mostly pop and rock from the 60's and on, however I do like songs from a variety of genres, too many to list here. The 60's had its good moments with some very good groups and songs, although some of it was overwhelmingly psychedelic. The 70's were probably the best time for pop music, with some great one-hit wonders. The 80's contain some of my favorite groups in the genres of new wave, punk, and the original definition of alternative. The 90's marked the start of the decline in music in my opinion, although there were some small percentage of songs that were very good. From 2000 and on, the percentage of good music has been getting smaller compared to the percentage of trash being put out by the music companies. |
| Favorite books | As I've stated above, I like a lot of sci-fi/adventure and such. I really enjoyed Douglas Adams' books and enjoy reading older books when I can get a hold of them in accessible form. |
