| Introduction | Hurricane Ridge is a winter wonderland 17 miles from saltwater. With incredible backcountry potential, established small downhill area that serves big terrain with little infrastructure, cross country trails, and sledding not to mention breaktaking views the area is loved by many. Unfortunately, Olympic National Park has reduced access to the ridge in winter to weekends only. In 2011 and 2012 a trail period of seven day access was completed, with a 35% increase in winter visits over the previous two years. The City of Port Angeles and local citizens would like seven day a week access to continue. This blog is to make that case. |
