Introduction | I have always been fascinated by the art of transformation. I'm self-taught and over time have experimented with many materials and techniques in the creation of my masks. Ultimately though, returning to the medium of paper with it's astonishing and intriguing ability to capture a myriad of forms. Inspiration comes from a passion for fairy tales, folklore and myths, wondrous music, dark Fin de Siecle delights and dreams of faded baroque decadence. Vital as to how my masks have evolved, has been my long collaboration with photographer Chris Dean. Through our work together I feel we release the mask from the realms of fancy dress, allowing each individual piece of art to tell the story caught between it's paper layers. |
