| Introduction | I came to Merida for the first time as a college student in 1976. In 1977 I returned again with Central College. In 1978 I graduated from Iowa State University with a teaching degree and moved to Merida to work. I began teaching English at Colegio Peninsular and other schools. In 1980 I married Naamen Charruf and we had 2 girls. One is dark like her dad, and the other is light like me! I have been teaching English for many years in Merida and the state. After 5 years of study in summer sessions in the USA, and one semester from my family, in 1987 I completed my masters degree in English from Northern Illinois University. Where have I been these 31 years? In addition to teaching at the Rogers, Ibero, Piaget, Teresiano, and Loyola, I also have held administrative positions at three of the above. I have also worked with the British Council, Pearson Education and have been involved in 3 Diplomados at the Mayab and the CEL. I just finished working on two modules of a Diplomado for COBAY teahers. I really enjoy working with the students at the CODI, and hope to motivate all my students to practice and study English! |
