Introduction I am an architecture and sustainability student at Ball State University. My mission with this blog is simply to make 1,000 origami cranes and give each one away to someone special I meet, as in the Japanese legend of Sadako and the 1,000 Paper Cranes. I take a picture of each person with their crane and post it here. Enjoy! Usually I use found pieces of paper wherever I am; so far I have used anything from newspapers and takeout menus to sugar packets, leftover aluminum and gum wrappers, and even half a business card! If you have been given a crane, you have become a part of a larger effort for peace in the world. According to Japanese legend, once 1,000 cranes are folded, we will receive a wish together. If you have ideas on what you would like this wish to include specifically, or have comments on the project in general, email me at chrispianist04@gmail.com Originally this project started as a response and effort to help and support the Japanese people after the devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 2011, but I would like to dedicate this as a group prayer towards all the people in the world who have been affected by natural disasters.
