| Introduction | I began my teaching and advising career at Regina High School in Iowa City, and moved to City High in Iowa City in 1980, where I advised "The Little Hawk" and the yearbook. After two years as an assistant principal at City, and one year working for Jostens as a rep, I returned to advising in 2002 at Heritage High School, in Littleton, CO. I left there in 2004 to help start the newspaper at Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch from scratch. I "retired" from that school in May, 2010 (it's complicated -- you should ask me about it some time), but found a different way to remain part of scholastic journalism. As of July 1, 2010, I became the Executive Director of the Colorado High School Press Association (renamed the Colorado Student Media Association in 2015). Time marches on and my 70th birthday prompted my retirement from CSMA. I still torment some Metro State students, teaching Composing Arguments online. I also teach Professional/Technical Writing at CSU, also online only. Whew! This "retirement" thing is exhausting! |
