| Introduction | We are the Barreras family. Asa was born to us, the late in life blessing to older parents and a wild and wooly group of older siblings, adult down to, well, Asa. On Feb 12, 2104, Mom took Asa to the pediatrician to look at a mysterious protrusion, what appeared to be just a baby fat belly, was not sticking out past Asa's ribs. After a stat ultrasound at the local hospital, we entered Texas Children's Hospital the next day and didn't leave for 67 days. A diagnosis of hepatoblastoma with a protocol of 6 chemos and a liver resection, got off to a poor start, but nothing that God wasn't aware of already. |
