Introduction | I am a citizen of the Winnemem Wintu Tribe. I am a Nikkei descendant sansei (third generation);retired teacher, involved in the Winnemem tribal responsibility to Water, Salmon, and our belief that the Sacred is our Teacher. Working locally for human rights and supporting youth leadership. |
Favorite Music | Pete Seeger says, "Songs are sneaky things. They can slip across borders. Proliferate in prisons. Penetrate hard shells." |
Favorite Books | All poetry especially Lawson Inada, Janice Mirikitani, everything by Louise Erdrich and Barbara Kingsolver, Sandra Cisneros, Ruth Ozeki, and I read Malcolm X every decade and it changes each time for me. I guess it's time for my 60's since I dreamed about reading Malcolm X and then in my dream was in the Maori classroom in South Island with a Malcolm X poster in their room. I love reading anything ab/Cuba. And cooking memoirs and cookbooks which tell a story. MYSTERIES. Loved Lacuna!! |
That can't really be a fish you're standing on, can it?
You noticed! No, it's a fish that I'm following! It may look like I'm standing on it because the fish is fundamental and foundational to Salmon People. Sawal maiumus baales bom!
