| Introduction | In 1992 I became a Master Volunteer in Clothing Construction with University of KY Cooperative Ext. Serv., was certified in 1994 and in 2010 was certified for the 9th time while becoming a Volunteer Emeritus. I have taught 4-H'ers, adults, and my own grandchildren to sew, and have been teaching a community sewing group, "Sew What!" at my local public library since 2007. In 2001 I helped co-found the Louisville chapter of the American Sewing Guild and was president in 2006. My teaching licensings & certifications include Sulky "Sit and Sew" instructor, Martha Pullen Beginning Sewing Teacher and Serger Teacher, and Palmer/Pletsch Beginning Teacher. My apron collection has increased to 140, and I've done three "History of the Apron" presentations to Homemaker groups across the state. In 2011, I started making items to sell at local craft shows and had so much fun with the shows! My passion is following Jesus, and my husband and sewing are my next passions. After making many clothes for my 4 children, family members and friends, and a short stint as a professional dressmaker, I settled into the wonderful experience of teaching and writing about sewing - more passions! |
