| Introduction | I am Yehudi Hilchati. I believe in a rational understanding of the origins of Judaism, yet I believe in Hashem. I believe in an evolving Judaism that incorporates modern ideals but within a halachic framework. I live, for the most part, within the Orthodox community and live a halachic lifestyle, but reject the constraints of the “Orthodox” label and of being associated with Haredi Judaism. I believe that Hilchati Judaism is beautiful, complex, open, nonjudgmental, and incredibly fulfilling, and has opportunities for all Jews, irrespective of gender or ethnicity. It sorts out what really is Judaism and rejects negative aspects that never had any halachic basis. It’s a school of thought that encourages questioning of dogma and breaking of barriers, yet has its roots deeply sunk in tradition and halacha. I believe that Yahadut Hilchatit is a concept whose time has come! |
