Introduction Born in Connecticut (at a time when the youngest resident of the White House shared a first name with me), I spent my teens playing in a series of classically-influenced rock bands (first drums, then keyboards with a bit of flute & guitar on the side). I went on to get a series of music-related degrees (B.A. from University of Pennsylvania, M.M. from New England Conservatory, M.F.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University). I was unable to find academic work when I finished Princeton in the mid-80's so started doing IT consulting. Little by little, I began to focus less on technology and more on the business side of data management and after spending many years working for other people, eventually started my own company. I still try to carve out time for making music but my competing passions of the American wilderness, a quest to visit each of the country's National Parks (and repeatedly revisit several of them), a near obsession with Yosemite National Park in particular and a constant desire to meet and spend time with interesting people tends to limit my music-making time.
Interests US National Parks (especially Yosemite), Travel, Reading, Food & Wine, Classical Music, Jazz, Yoga, Meditation, the Law of Attraction
Favorite Movies Far too many to list but, in general, anything that takes a realistic look at how people produce good in their lives and in the world.
Favorite Books With a personal library of several thousand books, I couldn't begin to pick a reasonable number of favorites. I read novels (emphasizing strong character development more than fast-paced action), history (of both periods and individuals), music theory, cosmology, number theory, well-grounded self-empowerment techniques, psychology, philosophy and, in short, anything that catches my attention when browsing in bookstores.
