Introduction | Johnny Doom is an above average writer in Hollywood. He has worked for everyone from Louie Anderson to Sublime. Doom is a nickname given to him by comedian Ian Bagg or Bryan Erwin or both. Naïve about the business of Hollywood and how many rewrites people ask for, he quit. Or went crazy, it depends whom you ask. He did in fact attend the Hollywood Mental Health Clinic while at the same time doing research for a novel called "Hollywood Mental Health". Instead he earned another nickname “Crazy John”. Broke and not willing to write, he stayed in Hollywood and learned to live off the fat of the land. Yard sales, estate sales, Mexico and other swap meets and flea markets. His friends remarked “you work harder at not working than when you work!” His friends are judgmental jerks. These essays are an attempt to organize the insanity of surviving modern life, by someone who did not live with the comfort or safety net of a regular check. Ideas and tips for saving money and better living for normal and crazy people alike. Currently Mr. Doom resides in the same neighborhood Charles Bukowski delivered the mail to and Frank Baum wrote Wizard of Oz in. None of their talents have rubbed off yet. |
