Introduction I’ve loved books all my life, writing my first sentence when just seven. Staring at the page, I wondered what might come next. I wanted to see where the keys would take me.
Over the course of ten years I wrote ten novels, and quit after hundreds of rejections. Ten years later I started again, this time writing something just for fun with no publication intention.
My second attempt resulted in signing with an indie press and later self-publishing five books. After two and a half years, I sold more than 60,000 copies and ranked in the top twenty of multiple Amazon fantasy lists. I even won some awards and was going toe-to-toe and holding my own with some of the biggest names in the genre. In October 2010, I jumped to the next level when Orbit Books gave me an offer for my series.
I’m eternally grateful, to readers and book bloggers who said such wonderful things about my books. One blogger even dubbed me, “the little indie that could” and Fantasy Book Critic selected me as 2010 #1 Indie Fantasy Author.
Today, I continue to fill blank pages and have three projects under development: A modern fantasy, a literary fiction piece, and a prequel to the Riyria Revelations.
