| Introduction | I am a PhD student researching the value of higher education for women 'like me', born and raised in white working class families, who were the first in those families to go into HE in the late 70s and early 80s. I want to know how the experience of HE fits in with and impacts on the rest of our life experiences. I am committed to the notion of 'praxis' which I interpret, after Lather, as 'philosophy made practical' and my underlying philosophy is to do feminist research, with an ethical aim, a moral purpose and a reflexive impetus. I believe that using a life history approach enables me to stay faithful to this. |
