Introduction The Rev. Dr. James Simons is a Pittsburgh native and has been a priest of the Episcopal Church since 1985. He has served since 1988 as the Rector of St. Michael's of the Valley in Ligonier PA. He graduated from Allegheny College in 1980 with a degree in Environmental Science. Jim is a 1985 graduate of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry where he also received his Doctorate of Ministry in 2007. He has been elected a deputy to General Convention 10 times. From 2000-2006 he served as vice-chair of Dispatch of Business. From 2009 to 2018 he served as the Chair of Dispatch. From 2006-2009 he served on The President of the House of Deputies (Bonnie Anderson) council of advice. He served in the same capacity the two previous triennia for George Werner. Jim was the President of the Standing Committee for the Diocese of Pittsburgh (TEC) in 2009. In 2010 he was elected to fill an unexpired term on Executive council and was appointed to the task force on the Anglican Covenant. He was re-elected to Executive Council by General Convention in 2012 and served on World Mission. Jim has three grown children and loves to fly-fish.
