| Introduction | First, I'm Ramona and I, along with my husband Frank, live in Northern Virginia with our three wonderful dogs: Cole, Tucker and Daisy. Read on! This is my blog about food: eating, cooking, baking (at times, and please bear with me!), shopping and dining in the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area. Although I have no formal training, I became inspired to improve my cooking skills from reading cookbooks and other blogs, participating in discussion boards and watching (good) food television programming. And, the following: From a growing awareness of local farmers and eco-friendly purveyors, I began to shop at area farmers markets. This, in turn, has led to a more regional and seasonal basis for the food I make. The anticipation which I feel each time I go to a market excites me. What will I find? Are the field tomatoes ripe yet? I wonder if strawberries and asparagus will be at the stands? You know the feeling! If you aspire to eat,cook and shop locally, wherever you live, I believe you will be fired up by the cooking, shopping and dining shown here at Pie a la Mona.
