Introduction I am a stay-at-home wife with three grown children. After raising and home-schooling my children, I spent hours on the John Deere wondering, "what's next?" I had attempted upholstery on my own but had NO clue what I was doing. So when the vo-tech offered Beginning Upholstery, I signed up. I fell in love, and am now an "Advanced Upholsterer," at least according to the vo-tech. Can I do anything I set my sights on? Not quite yet. But I've done some interesting pieces and I'm always up for a challenge. My passion must have inspired my busy, self-employed husband too, because he hopes to join me one day. Much of my inspiration comes from my hardworking carpenter father and stay-at-home mother, who, back in the day, took on whatever work she could to help make ends meet, including upholstery but also alterations and other sewing projects. Our home was always furnished with projects she and my father completed. Today, when I'm not keeping books for my husband, I'm a kitty wrangler and Doberman keeper. The boys are always there to "help" with my projects, invited or not. I also share some of the care for my now elderly mother, who is still very much an inspiration.
